Other information
This is an unexpected history of Aboriginal Australia and challenges us all to remove our ‘white blindfold’. It provides an understanding of Aboriginal social structure, knowledge systems, justice and environmental management – facts sadly lacking in Australian school teaching.
The most significant aspect of this work is contextualisation – where did these people come from, what were their achievements, and how much had they already changed by the time of ‘first contact’?.
TUTOR: Claude has a long history of engagement with the issues of this course. He has a BA (LaTrobe) and MA (equiv, Freie Universität, Berlin) and has taught this course across six U3As over several years.
Claude has also written a book, Pay the Rent, on the subject.
No class on 8 June
