Tutor/Facilitator Margo Anderson & Minuk Richards
Date: on/from Tue 20 Feb 2024 to end year
Class time: 10:30-12:00
Urban sketching is the practice of on-location drawing where people develop their observational skills to make visual documentations of their surroundings. They use art mediums and techniques of their own choosing. Urban sketching does not necessarily mean sketching buildings; sketchers can draw or paint any scene that is naturally available at their chosen locations.
While this U3APP group is not officially affiliated with the global Urban Sketchers community, we will endeavour to maintain the spirit of their aim: To develop an inclusive and supportive group of sketchers who seek to “Show the world – one drawing at a time”.
This is an untutored group. Minuk and Margo will be the coordinators of sketching locations and communications. During the sessions, they will themselves be sketching rather than acting as art tutors.
NOTE: The first meeting is an important information session discussing communication apps and procedures, resources, sketching locations, urban sketching resources and weather contingency plans. The location of this first meeting will be announced closer to the date.
REQUIREMENTS: A smartphone, your own preferred art supplies, and your own equipment for staying comfortable when sketching outdoors.
COORDINATORS: Margo Anderson and Minuk Richards are both art enthusiasts who have a wide variety of art experiences and interests. They have recently discovered the joys of urban sketching and are keen to develop a community of like-minded people to share and explore this activity.
