The course is Pilates based but does contain some general strengthening and mobilising. The advanced class has about 10-15 minutes devoted to cardio-thoracic fitness.

In the classes Lorna works with participants to increase their core strength and flexibility at their own pace. She works to improve posture and balance and a sense of physical and mental well-being. The strength, flexibility and exercise tolerance of the group is built up over time. Everyone who attends makes improvements in their physical capability.

REQUIREMENTS: The classes require that participants can get up from and get down to the floor unassisted.

Participants are required to bring a mat and a towel.

TUTOR: Lorna is a physiotherapist with at least 5 years’ experience working with the older adult group. She is able to modify exercises for people with specific injuries or illnesses and work to include people with a range of abilities and disabilities.

Lorna has much experience of attending many Pilates and older adult classes herself. She incorporates what she has learnt with physiotherapy principles and the understanding of various diseases and ageing.
