The course aims to provide a basic understanding of the French language for those who would like to start speaking and reading it. The focus will be on pronunciation, everyday vocabulary and simple but essential grammar.
English will be the main medium of instruction but French will be used through electronic media featuring conversations, stories and songs. There will be some homework between classes.
REQUIREMENTS: No previous knowledge or elementary knowledge of French language
TUTOR: William (Bill) has visited and worked in France on many occasions since 1968. His Dip Ed at Melbourne University included a specialisation in modern languages teaching method and he has taught French at school level. He has used spoken and written French in his work for UNESCO and ICOMOS, both at their Paris headquarters and in French-speaking countries, and in his research at Deakin University. He is a member of U3APP French Discussion group.
