This course will cover a range of popular French songs from the 20th century – singing one new song each week.

The course will cover information about the background to each song and singer, and will include a loose translation, with focus on clear pronunciation and singing the song by the class in French.

Subject to the success of the course, the members of the class will be also be encouraged to sing all the songs in mini-concerts at the end of the year in October and November at the U3A Seniors Week Concert and at the Bay Street Choirs Festival.

REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge of French, with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a willingness to sing.

NOTE: No audition necessary. No music note reading required.

TUTOR: David is an experienced singer and performer who has sung with choirs and organised musical groups over many years.

David studied French language and literature at Grammar School to A-level standard. He has a general knowledge of French, having worked regularly in Brussels and in France over many years.
