Other information

Until the indoor mask restriction is lifted, David will be running this course as “Presentation Only” by him with audio and visual aids.

The members of the class will not be required to sing and will be required to wear masks at all times.
David has been granted an exemption by the U3APP COVID team from the mask requirement while teaching or presenting.

The remainder of this course description describes the course as it will be run once mask-wearing is no longer mandatory inside.

The course will cover a number of popular French singers from the 20th century onwards – singing two or three new songs each week.
The course will cover information about the history of the singer and background to each song, and will include a loose translation to help understand the meaning of the lyrics. There will be a focus on clear pronunciation and singing the song aloud in French by the class.
Members of the class may also be encouraged to sing songs in French at mini concerts in October and November at the U3A Seniors Week Concert or at the Bay Street Music Festival.
REQUIREMENTS: Basic knowledge of French, with a positive attitude, enthusiasm and a willingness to sing.
NOTE: No audition necessary. No music note reading required.
TUTOR: David is an experienced singer and performer who has sung with choirs and organised musical groups over many years.
David studied French language and literature at Grammar School to A-level standard. He has a general knowledge of French, having worked regularly in Brussels and in France over many years.

NO classes will be held in Term 3

Classes will be cancelled if masks are mandatory indoors
