Other information

The course will cover a range of popular French singers and songs from the early 20th and into the 21st century – singing new songs each week.

The course will cover information about the history of the singer and background to each song, and will include a loose translation, with focus on clear pronunciation and singing the song by the class in French.

Subject to the success of the course, the members of the class may also be encouraged to sing all the songs in mini concerts at the end of the year in October and November at the U3A Seniors Week Concerts.

NOTE: There will be no written handouts! Class Members will be advised at the start of each term of the French singers to be covered in that term.  They will be required to download and print their own course material & information each week from the website www.chansons.souldj.au .

REQUIREMRNTS: Basic knowledge of French, with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to sing in French.  No audition necessary. No music note reading required.

TUTOR: David is a singer and performer who has sung in solo events and with choirs and organised musical groups. David studied French language and literature and worked regularly in Brussels and Bordeaux.

Paper Enrolment Form: before bookings open for First Semester

  • Obtain a paper Enrolment Form either from the Office or by printing an online copy available here.

The start date for acceptance of paper Enrolment Forms for first semester is published on the U3APP website and in the e-Bulletin. Enrolment Forms received before this date are treated as though they had been received on the start date (ie there is no advantage to be gained by submitting early). On the start date and thereafter, paper Enrolment Forms are numbered in order of receipt.  Paper Enrolment forms are processed by U3APP volunteers on the same day as on-line bookings.
