Other information
Introduction to types and cultural histories of puppets, and concepts of use in performance. Students will learn to develop their own puppet characters using a variety of materials and techniques, all of which can be achieved at home on a kitchen table.
With the guidance of Graeme Turner, we hope to work towards a play that could be performed to the U3a community (and maybe beyond?).
REQUIREMENTS: No experience required. A list of materials to be supplied by students will be discussed at the first session.
TUTOR: James Cattell started his art career as a puppeteer busker on Melbourne’s streets and has gone on to work in numerous art forms, though puppets keep nudging back into his life.
Graeme Turner is a writer and performer of poetry, prose and plays and is keen to collaborate on a project with James.
