Other information

This class will guide you through simple and effective breathing techniques based on the yoga practice of pranayama (breath awareness), including visualisation, to prepare you for a 15-minute relaxation. Taking part in the class will help you to reduce stress, gain focus, and calm and refresh you to face your everyday life.

REQUIREMENTS: No experience necessary. Suitable for all members. First 15 minutes of the class will be done on an upright but comfortable chair, to practise breathing techniques and so that Sheila can see and engage with everyone. Class members can remain seated or move onto the floor (mat or blanket or towel) for relaxation practice. They will need a blanket to keep warm, a quiet room, and possibly a cushion or pillow for support.

NOTE: This is not an exercise class. There will be some very gentle joint-freeing movements at the start of the class to help members to let go of tension. As these are purely warm up movements such as singers do – eg shoulder shrugs, wrist circling, head tilts etc – they are suitable for everyone to do to their own level of comfort.

TUTOR: Sheila has been a Hatha Yoga teacher for nearly 30 years. She has always taught yoga breathing and relaxation as an integral part of her classes. She is delighted that Zoom enables her to offer an online relaxation class so that members can practise in the comfort of their own homes and learn tools and techniques that they can use at any time.

How to Enrol

On-line: after bookings have opened

  • Does the course have spaces available?
    • Click on the course name to go to the booking page.
    • Click on “Book for this course or event”.
    • You will receive a confirmation email.  Please check your Junk/Spam folders as these automatically-generated emails often finish up there.

    • Click on WAITLIST.

Paper Enrolment Form: before bookings open for First Semester

  • Obtain a paper Enrolment Form either from the Office or by printing an online copy available here.
  • Complete the paper Enrolment Form and submit it to the Office.

The start date for acceptance of paper Enrolment Forms for first semester is published on the U3APP website and in the e-Bulletin. Enrolment Forms received before this date are treated as though they had been received on the start date (ie there is no advantage to be gained by submitting early). On the start date and thereafter, paper Enrolment Forms are numbered in order of receipt.  Paper Enrolment forms are processed by U3APP volunteers on the same day as on-line bookings.

If your enrolment is successful, you will receive a confirmation email.  Please check your Junk/Spam folders as these automatically-generated emails often finish up there.

If your enrolment is unsuccessful,  you will receive an email telling you that you have been waitlisted.
