Other information
We play a range of three and four part music, from medieval to modern, including some Celtic folk music, with an emphasis of the renaissance and baroque. We play as a led consort, with recorder sizes from Soprano to Contrabass. The group presented two concerts in 2019, and further concerts are anticipated. We aim to maintain a high standard of musicality and to improve our playing technique, working at a standard to match the competence of the group.
REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience playing recorder or be transferring from another musical instrument. Please call Geoff on 0409 257 578 if you are thinking of enrolling in this group for the first time.
NOTE: The consort is enrolled as a member of the Victorian Recorder Guild.
TUTOR: Geoff Parr-Smith is an experienced player and group leader, who has been playing recorders for some 35 years. He has attended workshops with many of Australia’s leading recorder players. He plays in the Ballarat U3A Recorder Group and the Ballarat U3A Celtic Band. He has also taught beginners’ recorder groups, and has taught a class in “Reading music for musicians who can’t”.
