Other information

Continued playing of a wide range of styles of multi-part recorder music, together with further development of recorder playing technique, knowledge of musical forms and styles, and knowledge of music theory. We will play in public when opportunities arise, but performance is not a priority.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have at least some experience as a recorder player. This is not a beginners’ class.

NOTE: The consort is enrolled as a member of the Victorian Recorder Guild.

TUTOR: Geoff Parr-Smith is an experienced amateur musician playing recorders, and more recently singing. As well as leading this group, he plays in the Ballarat U3A Celtic Band and Recorder Group, and will teach a course in sheet music reading. Geoff is interested in a wide variety of musical styles, from classical orchestral and early music through Celtic and folk to rock and pop. He has attended workshops with many of Australia’s top recorder professionals. He has a strong interest in composing as well as performing, and is currently exploring music theory at around 5th Grade level. He is an experienced teacher and group leader, following a career in environmental management.
