4M10 Recorders – Beginners

Tutor/Facilitator Geoff Parr-Smith

When
Date: on/from Thu 30 Jan 2020 to Thu 3 Dec 2020
Frequency: Weekly
Class time: 2:45-4:00

Other information

We will play a range of music of all types, improving the range of music as our skill increases.
REQUIREMENTS: No experience is required in playing recorders or any form of music. We will start at the very beginning. You will need a recorder in C (a soprano/descant or tenor recorder), music stand, notebook and pencil.
If you already own a recorder bring it with you, but expect that you may be asked to buy a new recorder, as the quality of recorder making has improved greatly in recent years. Do not buy an instrument before coming to the first class, as we will discuss instrument types, suitability and pricing. You will need the time to commit to reasonably serious practice. You will need to buy a tutor book. Expected outlay: about $120.
NOTE: Please call Geoff on 0409 257 578 if you have questions about this class.
TUTOR: Geoff Parr-Smith is an experienced player and group leader, who has been playing recorders for some 35 years. He has attended workshops with many of Australia’s leading recorder players. He plays in the Ballarat U3A Recorder Group and the Ballarat U3A Celtic Band. He is also teaching a beginners recorder group, and has taught a class in “Reading music for musicians who can’t”.
