Other information
The sport of Dragon Boating dates back over 2000 years. The dragon boat takes 10 to 20 paddlers and is a fantastic way to improve your fitness, meet new people and enjoy coaching and training in a supportive environment.
The club closest to Port Phillip that focuses on members who are over 40 is Dragon Masters Dragon Boat Club based at Docklands.
For many, it is great just for improving fitness, but for others, it is an opportunity to race locally, regionally (eg. Nagambie, Albury), nationally (eg. Perth, Adelaide, Sunshine Coast) and internationally (eg. Singapore, Penang, Vancouver, Szeged in Hungary).
Come to our information session to find out what dragon boating is and if it is something that you or your friends might be interested in.
There are also clubs that support cancer survivors and in particular breast cancer survivors.
NOTE: An article in the Medicare magazine talks about a Dragon Boat club member who is 77 years old and illustrates the value of fitness as we age: https://editions.finsbury.com.au/Medibank/LiveBetterIssue33/ (page 75).
TUTOR: Claire Robinson has been a dragon boater for over 7 years and will be supported by the former president of Dragon Boat Victoria and a member of the Australian Dragon Boat Association.
