Tutor/Facilitator David Robinson
Date: on/from Fri 26 Feb 2021 to end year
Class time: 1:00-2:30
FRIDAY FILM now has several options for those with different levels of
interest in watching films. Each week is a separate “event”, with three parts,
a FILM, a ZOOM DISCUSSION, a CHAT AT THE SANDBAR; you can join in (or not) any part.
SATURDAY (sometime during the day)
Every Saturday you will receive an email with a link to a good film. You can
watch it at home (or not) for free, on your computer or TV, at a time that
suits you during the week. The film is chosen primarily to stimulate
conversations. Hopefully it is a film you have never seen, or one you would
not normally watch, but I promise you it will challenge you in some way.
FRIDAY at 1pm-2pm
The following Friday at 1pm you have the option of discussing the film with
others in a 1 hour ZOOM session on your computer. You can participate in
the discussion, or just listen to others, it’s up to you. Several class members
always have interesting insights that are well worth hearing.
FRIDAY at 3pm-4pm
One hour after the ZOOM session finishes, at 3pm-4pm, you have the option
to have a coffee/tea/chat get together with other class members, and their
friends, at the Sandbar Beach Cafe, 175B Beaconsfield Parade, Middle
Park (near the U3APP Mary Kehoe Centre). We don’t discuss the film, we
just chat. Even if you haven’t seen the film, or discussed it, so what!
Everyone is welcome to join us. You don’t have to be a class member.
NOTE: www.live.org.au/film has details of the films to be shown in 2021 as
well as other information about the course.
This class also provides the opportunity for class members to volunteer to
be a “guest host”, where a class member nominates a film and hosts the
discussion the following Friday.
TUTOR: David likes to host discussions about films that have “merit”.
