Robin Parry will present a talk on domestic abuse describing the range of non-violent tactics of control that can ensnare women (or men) and how complicated and difficult it is to extricate themselves from the abuser.
This talk is directed at people who are, or have been, in abusive relationships and for family members and friends who want to better understand what is going on and how best to help their children, grandchildren and friends who are victims of this form of abuse, either at home or in the workplace.
The talk is approximately 1 1/2 hours long with time for questions during and at the end of the presentation.
Robin is a clinical social worker and family therapist with extensive experience in domestic violence having worked individually and in groups with both female victims and male perpetrators. She is also the author of two recent books on this subject – one written specifically for abused women and the other specifically for abusive men. Robin has personal experience of this subject as she herself was in a long-term abusive relationship.
