Rosalind Christie

Aberdeen, Scotland was my home town before immigrating to Australia, with my parents, in 1968. The land of ‘milk and honey’ as it was advertised in those days, certainly gave our family many opportunities. I married my Scottish boyfriend, Ian, who came to Australia 2 years later. We have 2 children, Craig and Alison, and 4 delightful grandchildren. We have been married for 52 years.

Initially, working in a country accountant’s office was instrumental to my future knowledge of accounting and administration career. Mid-life, once the children were older, I was Executive Administrator for the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia for ten years (AHISA). When I left AHISA for a career change, I became a Pilates instructor and also established a Conference and Event Management business specialising in the education sector. After a very successful 13 years in business, I sold it in 2018 to a young vibrant articulate girl. I still teach Pilates at our studio with my daughter.

Other interests in my life have been dance and music. As a teenager, I assisted at the Royal Scottish Dance Society for a period of time, loved highland and ballroom dancing, before becoming a Jazz Ballet teacher here in Australia, through the Australian Dance Society (ADS). The highlight and very rewarding aspect of my Jazz Ballet career (which was really my hobby), was establishing in the 1980s, a ‘special needs’ dance class for the Hume City Council dance program for which I was the Coordinator, and is still going today.  I joined U3A in 2019, am currently on the Office Management Team, enjoying the U3A choir and Melbourne Soul and Gospel Choirs after many years not singing, and am a volunteer for the Australian Ballet School, all of which has brought great joy and happiness to my life.
